On 8 April 2020, the RAs published the Capacity Market Code Modifications Timetable (SEM-20-022) relating to the proposed modification CMC_05_20 – Modification to Implement amendments as required by the Clean Energy Package Regulation EU 2019/943.
The modification proposes to update the Capacity Market Code with the requirements placed upon capacity markets, as set out in the Energy Regulation EU 2019/943 which forms part of the European Clean Energy Package arrangements. The particular focus of this modification relates to compliance with the emissions limits as set out in Article 22 (4) of the Regulation.
As set out in this timetable, the RAs will now proceed with the consultation process. This consultation paper provides an overview of the proposal and the feedback received, only in regards to this proposal, during Working Group 12 which took place on 31st March 2020.
The SEM Committee welcomes views and responses on the proposed modification raised within this consultation paper and request responses to the consultation paper be sent to both Kevin Lenaghan (Kevin.Lenaghan@uregni.gov.uk) and Karen Shiels (Karen.Shiels@uregni.gov.uk) by 17.00 on Monday, 20 April 2020.
