SEM Plexos Validation (2019-2025) Information Note

Following the validation of the Regulatory Authorities’ (“RAs” - CRU & UREGNI) SEM PLEXOS model up until end of 2023 (SEM-18-175), the SEM Committee has decided to commence a further validation of its SEM PLEXOS model up until the end of 2025.

A backcast using out-turn market data since I-SEM go-live will be undertaken to test model settings and parameters in order to bring the model outputs more in line with out-turn data. In order to complete the forthcoming SEM PLEXOS model validation (2019-2025) and I-SEM backcast, the RAs have engaged Economic Consulting Associates (ECA).

Any direct early comments on the approach to the validation of the SEM PLEXOS model or key focus areas for validation are welcome and can be directed to MMG@cru.ie.  The RAs request that such comments be submitted to the RAs prior to Friday, 27 September 2019.

The ECA team will be liaising with all market participants to validate the representation of their units in the market in due course. Also attached to this Information Note is a draft technical data request template that will be forwarded to market participants as part of this process in the coming weeks.
