Directed Contract Information Note - Quarterly Round 18
Today, Wednesday 31st August 2016, the Regulatory Authorities (RAs) publish an Information Paper on the quantities and prices for the "Round 18” offerings of Directed Contracts (DCs), covering the period Q1 to Q3 2017 inclusive. Updates to the 2016-17 validated model have also been included in a separate spreadsheet, as published alongside this Information Paper.
Directed Contracts are a part of the RAs market power mitigation strategy to ensure that the benefits associated with the SEM are not undermined by the abuse of market power. The purpose of these contracts is to remove the incentive on ESB Power Generation and Power NI Power Procurement Business to attempt to profit from the use of market power.
Supplier eligibility for DCs will be communicated by the Regulatory Authorities to each relevant supplier and to the seller (ESB) separately.
