Today, the System Operators published the final results for the Capacity Auction (called T-1 2019/20) as approved by the Single Electricity Market Committee (SEMC).
The auction was successful in securing sufficient generating capacity, as determined by the System Operators, to ensure electricity security of supply across the island for the next year (when a further auction will be run). This was achieved at a lower clearing price than the first T-1 auction (in January 2018) with additional generating capacity also secured to meet growing demand.
This is the second capacity action of the recently introduced more competitive and efficient market arrangements which came into effect on 1 October 2018.
The final auction results can be found on the SEMO website
